Researchers in the United States (USA) revealed that kid who always inhaling cigarette smoke at home, might be more likely to have problems in learning and behaving.

As much as 6 percent of the 55 thousand kids who are in the U.S. with vulnerable age 12, was environment smokers or coexist with smokers. Children are more likely to have a breakdown in its development and tends to be hyperactive than those living in non-smoking environment.

"Even after taking into account some explanations that might happen, smoke still has influence that can cause a high risk of child behavior problems," says Hillel Alpert at Harvard School of Public Health, which is one of the researchers.

Although these findings do not prove that the House was full of smoke is solely to blame, but there are other factors that not seen in this research. This can give the parents the reason to keep their house into a home-smoking room.

Health experts around the country recommended that children should be protected from the dangers of smoking for health reasons. Cigarette smoke can increase the risk of acute respiratory infections, asthma and sudden infant death syndrome.

"The main message for the parents is to protect their child from the dangers of cigarette smoke", added Alpert, the Straits Times, was quoted as saying Thursday (2/7/2011).

One other factor to consider is that children are exposed to cigarette smoke often associated with an increased risk of learning problems and behaviour. This is also related to the background of the elderly smokers who are also having trouble learning and behaviour, rather than parents who don't smoke.
