House Appropriations Committee of the United States (u.s.) has proposed to erode the budget of the James Webb Space Telescope, which is the successor to the Hubble and is the flagship project of the US astronomy.

The Proposal comes as part of the draft budget that saw the NASA budget for next year that would cut by EUR 1.6 billion dollars. This confirmed since today.

As reported by TG Daily, Friday (8/7/2011), "given the current fiscal crisis is experiencing, it is also important that Congress made a hard decision to cut the program, it is necessary to give priority to programmes with national coverage area and have the greatest benefit for the American people," said the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, p. Rogers.

Infrared telescopes will be 100 times more powerful than the Hubble, with mirrors which can be folded 6.5 meters, where the team had just finished doing the finishing touches. This tool should be able to see properly an explosion and the formation of planetary systems.

The telescope was originally to be launched in 2014, but the cost has been installed and the time limit seems to be delayed. Now is not expected to begin until at least the year 2018, many observers suggest his creation could take longer.

Late last year, an independent review panel found that the project was the third of 375 walking more and take a budget of USD 5 billion, it turns out that it all happened because there was an error in the system of the organization.

The Council will vote today on a bill that will be taken into consideration by all members of the Council on the allocation of the Committee's meeting next week. Even if kept, it needs to be aligned with the Senate Bill, which until now has never been released. (tyo)
